LCI Study Overview
The Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) program, sponsored by the Atlanta Regional Commission, provides funding for planning studies and transportation projects located in activity and town centers throughout the Atlanta region. The focus of the program is to encourage increased residential development, mixed uses, and connectivity.
The City of Winder LCI Study is the first such study in Barrow County. The study area encompasses nearly 550 acres of land, including downtown, adjacent historic residential neighborhoods, the May Street corridor and areas north of Fort Yargo State Park, Holly Hill Mall, and some light industrial areas near the City Pavilion.
Through the LCI process, the study will review existing conditions in central Winder and, with input from community stakeholders like you, develop a long-term vision for the future. This vision will promote a more livable Winder. Areas to be addressed include land use, parks and open space, environment, transportation, urban design, historic preservation, economic development, and public facilities.
Learn about how the planning process will work, how you can get involved, and some principles of good community design that you may want to see used in Winder.
