The City of Winder feels that our responsibilities to the citizens include taking action that helps to improve and maintain quality of life in our community. There are several areas in our city where we have seen quality of life degrade over the past several years and feel it is incumbent upon us to start a process that will change the cycle into a positive direction. The purpose of this letter is to send notification of upcoming enforcement action from the City to correct any observed violations of city ordinances.
We have selected an area of the City to begin working on this process, and will move to other areas in need of change as improvements are made in the previous locations. Areas selected have generated recent citizen complaints or have required more than average law enforcement presence due to call volume or repeated violations of local ordinances. We are seeking your full cooperation in this effort and will work with anyone who is actively trying to comply with our ordinances.
This early notification is being delivered to either the tenant or property owner of properties on East New Street, East Wright Street, Georgia Avenue, Park Avenue, East Stephens Street and North Broad Street. In the days and weeks that follow, a heavier concentration of enforcement activity will take place in this area. As the owner or tenant of the property, you will receive notification if your property is determined to be in violation of any existing local ordinances. You can find a list of all existing city ordinances at the bottom of the City of Winder's website at www.cityofwinder.com. The more common city ordinances that are violated can be found in Chapter 16 (Offenses-Miscellaneous) under section 16-81.
The City of Winder will hold an informational meeting for anyone who is interested in attending or may have questions about this initiative. The meeting is scheduled for Thursday June 23rd at 6:00pm at the City of Winder Community Center located on East Athens Street in Winder. If you are unable to attend this meeting, you may contact any shift supervisor with the Winder Police Department to answer any questions you may have at (770) 867-2156.
Thank you for your cooperation, and we look forward to working with you at improving your
quality of life.
